Veronica Hetman (Wolgamott) of East Bridgewater passed suddenly due to complications from a heart attack on Thursday, April 10th, 2025. She was 64 years old.
Veronica was born and raised in Pemberton, New Jersey. She received her associate degree in business from Massasoit Community College, and she furthered her education at Southern New Hampshire University where she earned her bachelor's degree in business, graduating summa cum laude.
Roni, as she was known to family and friends, met Edward Hetman through a mutual friend while Ed was on active duty with the US Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey. The two began dating and later married on February 4th, 1978. Shortly afterwards, they relocated to Massachusetts. In 1984, they purchased a house needing much in the way of tender loving care on Oak Street in East Bridgewater, and they made it a home where they raised their family. While Ed was on deployments everywhere from South America to the Middle East, Roni held down the home front, and she carried the entirety of the family's needs so that Ed could fully focus on the mission abroad. She was recognized by Colonel Mark Stimer of the 313th Movement Control Battalion for her contributions. Ed's ultimate mission was coming home to her, which he did in 2016.
Roni was a woman of many skills, talents, and interests. She worked for the US Postal Service for seventeen years, first in Bridgewater and then in East Bridgewater. After retiring, she pivoted to retail becoming a cross-trained guru of everything from photo machines to macchiatos. Most recently, Roni was a homemaker, and office manager for Ed's contracting business, Weathertite Home Improvement. Even when she became legally blind, she was still a gardener and full-time grandmother, great-grandmother, and cat mom.
Roni was an avid reader of armchair detective series and high fantasy novels. She was a clever seamstress, making clothes and costumes for the family, and her creations were jaw-dropping. She also liked to crochet, and she was passionate about her flower gardens. She was looking forward to spending some quality time in her greenhouse. She especially loved tending to her phlox, hyacinths, lilacs, and hydrangeas, as all forms of purple held a special place in her heart; a moniker of hers was the Purple Queen, after all. She and Ed loved to travel to their favorite places, which included Florida, Hawaii, and Utah to visit friends and family. She loved listening to music, too. Her favorites were Journey, Ed Sheeran, Enya, and the Goo Goo Dolls. For her birthday this year, she saw Riverdance live, and she was a frequent concert attendee.
Everything she did was done with love – and occasionally some mischief – and she loved unconditionally. She was a nurturing, calm, and steady presence who never needed the spotlight, but it was her efforts that made birthdays, holidays, and family meals special for everyone. She was a warm presence that made people feel welcomed and supported. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Roni, a Gold Star Mother, is predeceased by her parents, Thomas Wolgamott and Matilda "Tillie" (Dobos), uncle Gene Dobos, her daughter Corinne Nicole (Johnson, née Hetman) Fisher, and her son-in-law Ty Johnson.
She is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Edward M. Hetman of East Bridgewater. Mother of Shannon Bethony of East Bridgewater, Shawn Hetman of East Bridgewater, and Andrew Hetman and his wife Sarah of East Bridgewater. Grandmother of Asch Bethony, Crystal Sampson, Kyrstin Robinson, Rand Johnson, Matthew Fisher, Christopher Peel, and Emma Peel. Great grandmother of Finley Robinson. Sister-in-law of Jacqueline and Kenneth Wright of Pembroke, Glenn Hetman of New Hampshire, Charles Hetman of New York, Kathleen Scott of Plymouth, and Nancy and Joe Lavinge of Carver. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
