Veronica (Sterle) Jacobson

Veronica Helen Jacobson, 96 (mother of Jerry, Larry, Allen and Greg Stainiger) of Chisholm peacefully passed away on July 30, 2024, at Heritage Manor in Chisholm.

She was born on January 1, 1928, to Frank and Apolonia Sterle. Verona, as she was called, grew up in Chisholm, graduating from high school in 1945.

In her earlier years, she worked at the Virginia Shirt Factory. She also owned and operated The Time News Stand in Chisholm. In her later years, she was a nanny for many families. Verona was an avid knitter and crocheter, constructing countless afghans, pot holders, hanging towels and scrubbies. She started an apple strudel business making many strudels during holiday seasons for her satisfied customers as well as for family celebrations. She donated many strudels for church bazaars during her lifetime. Verona enjoyed traveling, fishing, blueberry picking, trips to the casinos and family functions.

She is survived by her sons Jerry (Judi) Stainiger, Larry (Mary Lu) Stainiger, and Greg Stainiger; grandchildren Lisa, Ryan, Craig, Nicole, Kelly, Brandee, Ashley and Adam. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Apolonia Sterle, three sisters, one brother, daughter in-law Jean in 2016 and son Allen in 2019.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Heritage Manor for three and a half years of care given to Veronica as well as to the Fairview Range Hospice Program.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at the Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel in Chisholm. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
