Veronica A. Kasel, age 83, passed peacefully in her home on June 2, 2025. She was born on December 22, 1941 to Frank and Agnes (Michna) Romportl of Rice Lake. Growing up she helped tend to the farm and her 7 brothers. She met Gerald “Jerry” Peter Kasel while he was a milkman making deliveries to her family farm. They married on July 15, 1961 and enjoyed 32 years together until Jerry lost his battle with heart failure in 1993. She was an avid gardener, well-traveled, and enjoyed baking treats for her family. She was never one to sit still and always found ways to keep herself active and busy. Anyone who met Veronica knew she was tender-hearted but strong-willed.
She is survived by her three daughters and son-in-laws: Rosemary and David Lesinski, Linda and Todd Stelmacher, and Cynthia and Martin VandenLangenberg; brothers Francis, John, Bob, and Ray; sister-in-laws Michelle, Carol, and Tammie; six grandchildren: Michael (Megan), Alicia (Marc), Joshua (Dana), Kiara (Manu), Isaac, and Karissa; great-grandchildren: Henry, Elliana, Noah, Oliver, Owen, baby girl due in October, and Jacob. She is preceded in death by: her husband Jerry; her parents; siblings Joe, Bernard, Anthony, and Theresa; sister-in-laws Betty, Charlotte, and Tina; grandson Jeremy; special sister-in-law Ramona; and many other friends and family. They have been reunited in the glory of heaven.
The family would like to thank the many hospital and clinic staff Veronica came in contact with over the last several years. The hospice team at Compassus provided Veronica with excellent care and dignity in the last weeks of her life, especially nurses Liz and Heidi.
