Obituary for Veronica "Ronnie" Ryan

Veronica "Ronnie" Ryan, beloved wife, dedicated mother, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, at Staten Island University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 19, 1946, in Staten Island, NY, Ronnie's life was a testament to love, resilience, and devotion.

She was the daughter of the late John May and the late Alice (Rocco) May, and she carried the warmth and spirit of her parents throughout her life. Ronnie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert DiGiaimo, whose memory she cherished deeply.

Ronnie was the devoted wife of Robert Ryan, and together they created a home filled with love and laughter. Her heart was expansive, Ronnie's love extended to her daughter, Francine Scherma-Pagliorola, and her cherished grandson, John Francis Scherma, who brought immeasurable joy to her life, her dear son in law Carl Pagliorola and it embraced not only her immediate family but also her stepchildren, Kim Ryan and Bobby Ryan, whom she adored. She was the loving sister to Alice McNamara and loving aunt to Alice Marie Nemeth, Michael McNamara, Darren McNamara, Stephen McNamara.

As a legal secretary, Ronnie was known for her intelligence, diligence, and supportive nature. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her profession, demonstrating a strong work ethic that resonated well beyond her career. However, her greatest pride and joy came from her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her, embodying the essence of devotion and kindness.

Outside of her professional life, Ronnie found joy in the simple pleasures. She had a passion for her dog Buddy, treating him as part of the family, her furry son. Her interests and hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit, as she was always ready to lend a helping hand or share an encouraging word with those around her.

Ronnie's funeral will be held on November 24, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals Inc. Family and friends are invited to join together to celebrate her remarkable life and the indelible mark she has left on all who knew her.

Private Cremation will follow services.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, November 24, 2025, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.

In her life, "Ronnie" exemplified love, compassion, and devotion. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will linger in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us all to embrace life with the same warmth and kindness that she so effortlessly shared.
