Warren Hills Memorial Home - WashingtonVeronica R. Szot of Oxford NJ, passed away peacefully at Mira Vie at Brookfield in Belvidere NJ on October 30th 2025 at the age of 104.
Veronica was born on July 26, 1921 in Brusno Mova, Poland.
Veronica was taken by the Nazis from Poland for slave labor working on a German farm. She met her husband Michael at a displaced region camp after World War 2 and they later moved to New Jersey from Germany in 1951.
Veronica and her husband had five children all raised in Oxford NJ, Josephine Ames (William, deceased) of Annville PA, Helen Mattos of Bangor PA, Irene Szot of Washington NJ, Nicholas Szot (Marilyn) of Pocono Summit PA and Michael Szot Jr. (deceased), nine grandchildren; Douglas Cheyney (Julie) of Annville PA, Mark Cheyney of Landisville PA, Dr. Richard Glosser (Jackie) of Plum PA, Michael Glosser (Dawn) of Washington NJ, Nicholas Glosser of Washington NJ, Jennifer Martin (Shawn) of Bangor PA, George Mattos (Sheila) of Bangor PA, Justin Szot of Ijamsville MD, Josh Szot of Pocono Summit PA and granddaughter in law, Jessica Favata of Walkersville Md. She also leaves behind 17 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and her cousin, Lottie Grochowicz.
She was “Momma Szot” to the children (Sandra, Sam and Mary) of her best friend of over 60 years, Angeline Sadlon (deceased).
Our family wishes to thank Home Instead and her caregiver Dora, the staff at Mira Vie at Brookfield and Ennoble Care Hospice for the excellent care provided to our Mom.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Veronica’s name to the Oxford or Belvidere Emergency Squads.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday December 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W Washington Ave. Washington NJ 07882. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 PM in the Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Saint Rose of Lima Cemetery, Oxford NJ.
