Jay Alan Szot, age 50 of Waunakee, WI and formerly of Winchester, WI passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2026 at his home. Jay was born on January 15, 1976 in Woodruff, WI the son of Joseph and Lynn (nee Vrabec) Szot.
Szot attended and graduated from North Lakeland in 1990 and Lakeland Union High School in 1994 and later graduated from Fox Valley Technical as an IT Specialist. Through the years Jay worked for Manpower Corporate in Milwaukee, WI as a Communication Tech and then with Great Lakes in Madison, WI as an IT Engineer.
Szot enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, swimming, hockey, was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and cars and trucks. Jay and his daughter Aubriana had a special bond and avid interest in all animals.
Jay is survived by his daughter Aubriana and by his mother Lynn Szot and sister Kristine (Ben Reichert) Szot and by his Aunts Denise James, Regina McKenna and Jan Szot and his Uncles Grant James and Tom Szot and his beloved dogs Toes and Lurch; along with several other varieties of animals.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Szot and his paternal grandparents Joseph and Mary Szot and maternal grandparents Richard and Violet Vrabec and his uncle Timothy McKenna.
Visitation for Jay will be held on Saturday, January 24th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel with a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm and reception to follow services.
