Richard Edwin Berrend of New Holstein, WI, passed away on January 21, 2026. He was born to the late Edwin D. Berrend and Irene J. (Steele) Berrend of Hazelhurst/Minocqua, WI, on October 5, 1940.

He graduated from Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua then furthered his education. He fulfilled his Military obligation and was Honorably Discharged from the Wisconsin Army National Guard's Rotor Wing Aviation Unit.

Richard married the love of his life, Kathryn Ann Mangan of Kiel, WI on May 21, 1966, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein.

He was employed by several major Engine Manufacturers over the years in Product Engineering/R&D and retired from LDI Industries of Manitowoc, WI.

He enjoyed traveling with his family to the UP and his hometown. He also enjoyed skiing, hunting, fishing, boating, scuba diving, and flying as opportunities permitted.

Richard is survived by his wife Kathryn of 59 years and three sons and daughters-in-law: Michael (Michelle) of Manitowoc, WI, Patrick (Jill) of Frederick, CO and Ryan (Suzanne) of Glen Ellyn, IL. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Jonathan, Katelyn, Ella and Ava and his sister-in-law; Karen (Gary) Stoeckigt.

He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, sister, Norma Jean (Birkholz), father-in-law Richard Mangan, mother-in-law Elizabeth Mangan, brother-in-law Kenneth Mangan, sister-in-law Nancy Mangan and brother-in-law Richard Birkholz.

Richard's wish was to be cremated with a family service and interned at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in New Holstein.
