Vess Pearson Obituary

Vessie August Pearson II, 83, returned home peacefully to his Heavenly father on March 31, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, who brought joy and happiness to all who knew him.

Vess was born July 30th, 1940, in Pocatello Idaho. He resided in Pocatello and Chubbuck all his life. He attended Pocatello High School where at the age of 15 he met the love of his life Marilyn June Kramer. On November 23, 1957 they were married in Pocatello Idaho. On November 25, 2022 at the age of 82 their marriage was solemnized in the Pocatello Idaho Temple, where they were sealed for time and eternity. That union has brought 6 children, 21 grandchildren, 38 great grand children, and 1 great great grandchild. Family was everything to him and he made every family member feel like they were the most important to him. He loved and supported us in all that we did. He was present at countless athletic events to cheer on his children and grandchildren. You always knew he was in the stands because his voice was louder than any others. He is the perfect example of how to love and support your family.

He cherished every moment he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. His love and guidance were unwavering, and his presence brought a sense of comfort and security to his family. For the past several years he and Marilyn were never far apart, there was no doubt they had an eternal love for each other. In their 66 years of marriage, Vess and Marilyn created a lifetime of cherished memories. From raising a family to embarking on adventures together, they experienced life's joys and challenges hand in hand. Their love story is a reminder of the power of a strong and enduring partnership, and their commitment to each other is an inspiration to all that know them.

Vess had a deep passion for hunting and fishing (mainly fishing). He spent countless hours doing what he loved. Those that know him will tell you he is the best fisherman they have ever met. That would be the truth! We all feel sorry for the fish in Heaven! Hunting and fishing trips with his family and friends were cherished moments that created memories that will last a lifetime. His fishing skills were admired by many, and he took great pride passing on his expertise to his children, grandchildren and friends. (Some caught on better than others!)

Vess had a very successful career. He was at one time the youngest apprentice meat cutter in the state of Idaho. After several years of being a meat cutter, he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. He spent several years as the Supervisor of a steel gang, gone for weeks at a time away from his family. When he retired from the railroad, he was the Supervisor of the Maintenance Away shop in Pocatello.

Although he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy of love, family and fishing will forever be cherished by his family and friends. We find solace in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.

He was preceded in death by Terry Ray Pearson, son, Vess and Majorie Pearson, parents, Linda Pearson, sister and Gerald Pearson, brother. He is survived by Marilyn Pearson, wife, Vess Pearson III (Caroline) son, Dianna Santillanes (Tim) daughter, Tad Pearson (Allyson) son, Dodette Shulman (Leonard) daughter, Vic Pearson (Jessica) son, and Judy Burk, sister.

We would like to thank all those who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. Your love and kindness provides comfort and strength to our family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 13th at the Philbin LDS Church at 1:00 pm. Viewing will be held from 10:30 to 12:30 and interment will conclude services at the Mountain View Cemetery.

My best memories are probably similar to most that have met him. The 2 week vacations in salmon steelhead fishing. Vess would always take the time to teach us how to catch fish and tell the stories of the past. Thanks Vess for all the memories.

Vess had a heart of gold. I feel so privileged to have known him the short time that I did. He always had such kind things to say & an overall positive outlook despite his health struggles. Vess, I know that you are in a better place now, but I will miss you. Say hello to my mom for me. Love you!
