Vicki Cox Thomas, 69, of Ripley, WV passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. The earthly world lost a beautiful soul and Heaven gained a huge one. She was a bright light in this world and will be cherished forever and always.

Vicki was born in Clarksburg, WV, on March 1, 1956, the daughter of the late Jake Cox and Ruth Cox Trent. In addition to her father, Vicki is preceded in death by her husband Gareth of 32 years and daughter, Kiana; step-father, John Trent; sister, Sandee Gum and brothers-in-laws Joe Gum and Jim Ross. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Vicki is survived by her daughter, Alisha Thomas; mother, Ruth Trent; sisters, Mary Sandy of Waverly, WV, Darlene(Aaron) Cohen of Atlantis, Fl, Linda Hunt of Winfield, WV, and Connie Ross of New Milton, WV; brothers, Randy (Cathy) Trent of Salem, WV, Rodney (Terry) Trent of Salem, WV, and Johnny (Jackie) Trent of Salem, WV; nieces, Amanda (Steve) McGill and Whitney (Collin) Miller; plus many other cherished nieces and nephews.

Vicki spent her career as a Physical Therapist for over 40 years, touching countless lives with her compassion and professionalism. Her work was her passion in life; she poured love into her patients through her work in home health. She was a graduate of Doddridge County High School, Salem College, and West Virginia University. Vicki’s career took her to Kentucky where she met the love of her life, Gareth Thomas; then after some time they moved back to West Virginia settling back in Gareth’s hometown of Ripley, WV.

Vicki’s legacy is one of unconditional love. To know her was to love her. There wasn’t a person she wouldn’t do absolutely anything for. She was always smiling and laughing. She always knew what to say to make everyone else feel better. She made an impact on all those she came in touch with and was an inspiration to so many.

Vicki poured her love into her family. She loved talking and catching up with her huge extended family. She loved to travel with her daughter, she loved antiques and the hunt for antiques, especially auctions. She was an animal lover and her “grand” fur babies were her babies. Most of all she loved her daughter more than anything and was so very proud of her.

Vicki attended Fairplain Union Church where she felt at home. She loved her church family and their continued support.

A service will be held at Waybright Funeral Home on Saturday, February 7th at 3p.m. with visitation from 1p.m. until the time of the service; pastor Todd King will be officiating. A burial will take place at a later date in the Thomas Cemetery off Aplin Ridge. Online memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.waybrightfuneralhome.com.
