Vicki Dunn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Memorial Park, and Crematory on Feb. 23, 2026.
Vicki Dunn, 73, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 21, 1952, she lived a life full of loyalty, optimism, and quiet strength.

She is survived by her devoted husband Bennie, their two daughters, Annabelle Dunn (Tony), Maria Penberthy (Keith), and her beloved grandchildren Andrew White (Nicki Brown) and Ethan Tucker. She is preceded in death by her parents Sam and Sylvia Tate, sisters Kay Glass and Linda Austin, brother David Tate, and her beautiful granddaughter Moragan Tucker.

Trained as a certified nurse, Vicki's tender heart could not bear losing patients, so she found a new calling in banking. Always hardworking and always smiling.

She was the heart of her family: the beloved wife of Bennie. She was his soul mate, and he adored her. She was a devoted mother to their two daughters, and she was lovingly called Nana by her grandchildren. Vicki and Bennie shared simple Sunday rituals, wandering through Belk and Sam's together; that became one of their most treasured traditions.

As a loyal Auburn fan, she proudly cheered on her Tigers even while living in the heart of Crimson Tide country in Tuscaloosa. She loved her Ford truck, singing with all her heart, and spending peaceful time by the river. She spoiled her 27-year-old white Arabian horse, Sky, always making sure he had the finest "condo" accommodations. She had a heart for rescuing animals particularly one named Ava that she rescued from the bushes at the bank. She loved to decorate her yard each holiday with big, bright blow-up decorations just to watch the neighborhood kids light up with joy.

Above all, Vicki was a Godly woman and an active member of Big Sandy Methodist Church, where years ago she lovingly taught the children's choir. She held to the highest morals and values and gave freely of her time, her laughter, and her love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will continue to touch everyone lucky enough to have known her.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday morning, February 28, 2026 from 11:00 - 12:30 at Big Sandy Methodist Church 11441 McPherson Landing Road, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405.
