Vicki Jo Ann Herold, 75, of Lebanon, OR, passed away on Wednesday, October 30th, at Salem Hospital in Salem, OR.
Born October 8, 1949, in Salem, OR, she was also a resident of Chula Vista, CA. She moved back to Oregon in 1974 where she spent over 20 years in Astoria, OR, and 24 years in Lebanon, OR.
Vicki was a graduate of Chula Vista High School and Linfield College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Education. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years before working as a substitute teacher and legal secretary in Astoria and Lebanon.
Vicki was a kind hearted, sweet woman who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to see her family as well as trips to Mono Village, CA, where she had enjoyed several childhood trips. She loved to read and was also a writer. Her Valentine’s Day poem won a radio contest in the late seventies. Additionally, she wrote a memoir about her summer trips to Mono Village.
She is preceded in death by her father, William Edwin Detlefs; and her mother, Charlotte Aune (Laine) Detlefs.
She is survived by her husband Bob Herold of Astoria, OR; and her two daughters, Patrice (Lyle) Luneski and husband, Dan, of Naples, FL; and Kristin (Lyle) Reakoff of Fairbanks, AK; and her granddaughter, Suvi Reakoff, of Fairbanks, AK.
Viewing will be held at Hughes Ransom Mortuary in Astoria, OR, on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Graveside services will follow at 1 PM at Lewis & Clark Cemetery in Astoria, OR, with Pastor Daniel Baker officiating.
