Vicki Lynn Oppel

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Vicki Lynn Oppel, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. Born on November 2, 1951, in Chillicothe, Missouri, to John and Helen Van Dusen, Vicki's life was a testament to love, kindness, and dedication to her family.
Vicki grew up alongside her siblings, John Van Dusen and Chrystal Pepin who she cherished deeply. She later married her high school sweetheart, Gary Oppel, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion. Their journey was one of unwavering support and affection, and though Gary passed before her, we find comfort in knowing they are now reunited.
For 30 years, Vicki worked at Southwestern Telephone Company, where she built a career through dedication and persistence. She valued the friendships she made along the way and took pride in her work. Outside of the office, she enjoyed the things that made life worthwhile-spending time with family, taking trips to the beach, and surrounding herself with her dogs, who were always by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Van Dusen, and her loving husband, Gary. Vicki leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for those who survive her: her daughter Amanda Oppel and her husband Derrick Dinwiddie; her sister Chrystal Pepin and husband Geoff Pepin; her brother John Van Dusen; and her nephew Jim Van Dusen and his wife Rhonda Van Dusen.
Though Vicki is no longer with us, her presence is still felt by those who knew her. She had a sharp wit, a strong will, and a love for the things that mattered most-her family, her friends, and the moments that made life worthwhile. She lived life on her own terms, and her impact won't be forgotten. As we remember her, let's hold onto the good times, the laughter, and the lessons she left behind.
Rest in peace, Vicki. You are deeply missed, but your love and light will never fade.
