Vicki Suzanne Scholer

Vicki Scholer, 67, passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2022 at Ramsey Village in Des Moines, Iowa.
Services will be Monday, December 5th, 2022 at Merle Hay Chapel (4400 Merle Hay Rd) in Des Moines, Iowa from 5pm to 7pm. Burial will be at a later date.
Vicki was born July 8th, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa to Victor and Helen Leinen as the third of five children. During Vicki's teenage years, her cousins, Nancy & Jill, moved into the house and they became sisters. Through family trips everyone became quite close; even if, begrudgingly, some had to share bottles of Pepsi. One day while Vicki was working, she met Tom and thus, began a lifelong love. Vicki worked for 39 years in the banking industry, finishing her career at Banker's Trust in Clive. Vicki had a few hard years towards the end of her career; her grandson passed, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and became a survivor, her mother passed, and she was diagnosed with a neurological disorder. Through all of this, Vicki trusted that her family would stand by her side and provide the best care possible. Vicki loved cardinals, root beer floats, flowers (especially tulips), dancing, and all kinds of music. More than anything, Vicki loved her family, especially baking with her granddaughters when they were young. The laughter that filled the kitchen was a laughter of love.
Left to cherish Vicki's memory are her daughters, Amy (Joe), Kerry (Kathy), her adored grandchildren Betsy and Carly, brothers and sisters Terry, Randy, Tammi, and Shelli, cousins, who became sisters, Nancy and Jill, and many other extended family members and friends of which she was very fond and loved spending time with.
She was preceded in death, four weeks to the day, by her husband of 49 years, Tom; her grandson Quincy, and brother-in-law John (Tammi).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa* in Vicki's honor, as Vicki cherished her time with anyone's pets.
The family would like to thank Ramsey Village for the great care they provided to Vicki this past year, especially her favorite nurse, Renee. And also thank St Croix Hospice, especially Megan, Tracy, and Sally for making this last week comfortable for Vicki and her family.
Please wear something red as this was Vicki's favorite color.
