Vicki Jo (Wessel) Wafford was born January 24, 1951 in Beardstown, Illinois the daughter of George E. Wessel and Rosie Lucinda (maiden name: Wilcox) Wessel. She was first raised in Beardstown attending Central School there and later transferred to Lincoln Elementary School in Pana, Illinois. Vicki attended Pana Senior High School and graduated with the Class of 1969. She further attended Capital Area Vocational Center (CAVC) and became a Licensed Practical Nurse with advanced accreditations in geriatric care. Vicki previously worked for Pana Community Medical Clinic, St. Vincent's Hospital, and Barry Care Center, along with working for Dr. Webster (Decatur Urgent Care Clinic) and Dr. Stone (The Dermatology Center). Vicki married William E. Wafford on July 17, 1969, and they divorced in 2007. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Nokomis, Illinois.
Vicki's grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she babysat, traveled, and sewed for them. She especially enjoyed playing cards and traveling with family and friends. Vicki was a talented cook and baker, and she "made the best homemade noodles." Since Vicki grew up on the river, she learned fishing from an early age.
Vicki Jo Wafford is survived by her three Children: Marsha (Paul) Miles; Micah (Scarlett) Wafford; and Jacob (Lindsy) Wafford, all of Pana; eleven Grandchildren: Briar (Anna) Miles of Pana; MacKenzie Miles Hand (Alex) of Nokomis; Noah William Wafford of Pana; Alexander J. (Kate) Wafford of Effingham; Gabriel Carter (Katelyn) Wafford of Pana; Avery Raphael Wafford of Pana, Isaac Lee Wafford of Pana; Cassidy Rae Wafford of Pana; Remy Klein of Pana; Harper Elise Wafford of Pana; and Elliott (Jessica) Tom of Lebanon, Tennessee; seven Great-Grandchildren; Sister: Georgia Wessel (Gary Kolb) of Carbondale; and Companion: Kenny Masset of Pana. Vicki is preceded in death by her Parents and Sister: Virginia (Wessel) Curry.
