Vickie Robertson, age 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in Noble, Louisiana. She was born on August 2, 1954, in Winnfield, Louisiana, to the late Daniel L. Carter, Jr. and the late Lola Mae Cockerham Carter. She was also preceded in death by her brother Danny Carter and her aunt Ida Delores Cockerham.
Vickie was a 1972 graduate of Calvin High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, followed by a Master's Degree in Education plus 30 and a certification in Principleship from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. Her teaching career began in 1979 in the Winn Parish school system and later continued in DeSoto Parish, where she faithfully taught math and science for three decades before retiring.
Raised in Bethlehem Baptist Church in Calvin, she was baptized and married there. Later in life, she became a charter member in the reestablishment of Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Gaar's Mill, Louisiana.
Beyond the classroom and church, Vickie found joy in music, nature, and sports. She played piano, enjoyed horseback riding and working outdoors, and remained active in athletics throughout her life. From her early years playing volleyball, basketball, and softball, to her adult years participating in bowling leagues and local softball teams, Vickie brought both skill and spirit to every field and court. She also served as a coach for youth sports and was well known as an avid "bleacher coach," referee, umpire, and enthusiastic cheerleader for her children and grandchildren.
Vickie's life was one of dedication-to her faith, her family, her students, and her community. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, encouragement, and unshakable love.
"Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do:
