Vickie DeLuna Obituary

Vickie L. DeLuna of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on March 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 25, 1961, in Louisville, Kentucky, Vickie's life was one filled with warmth, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to her loved ones.

Vickie enjoyed a fulfilling career in management for local businesses, where her nurturing personality shined through. She believed in the importance of mentoring and guiding those around her, creating environments that fostered growth and community. Her heart, however, found its true calling in working with children; she worked at Rauch and taught Vacation Bible School at her church, leaving an indelible mark on the young lives she touched.

In her personal life, Vickie cherished her family above all. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Joe DeLuna, and a proud mother to her daughter, Jillian (Chris Thompson) DeLuna, and son, Zachary (Valerie Lewis) DeLuna. She lit up with joy as she embraced her role as a grandmother to her beautiful granddaughter, Josephine, celebrating this milestone as one of her proudest accomplishments.

Vickie's interests were varied and joyous; she loved animals and often found solace in trips to Florida, where she could relax and recharge. She had a passion for baking that brought families together, filling homes with the sweet aromas of her treats. Whether it was a simple gathering or a festive celebration, Vickie loved spending time with her family and friends, creating warm memories to be cherished forever.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joe; her children Jillian and Zachary, and their fiancé and spouse, Chris and Valerie; along with her precious granddaughter, Josephine. Vickie also leaves behind her brother, Bill (Sandy) Harold, her sister, Theresa Wright, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will continue to carry her spirit and love in their hearts.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Denise Monyhan.

Vickie's memory will forever resonate with those who knew her. Her kindness, nurturing nature, and light-filled presence will be deeply missed. As we gather to honor her life, we are reminded of the joy she brought to our lives and the profound impact she had on our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and again on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. A funeral service will follow on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM.

The family requests that contributions in Vickie’s memory be made to Floyd County Animal Rescue League.
