Tomas P. DeLuna, age 88, of
Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at North's Funeral Home, with burial to follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will take place earlier that day from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, also at North's Funeral Home.
Tomas was born on June 27, 1936, in San Perlita, Texas, to Santiago and Sofia (Pena) DeLuna. He was raised in San Perlita before making his way to
Abilene, Texas in 1959, where he built a life dedicated to family, hard work, and service.
A proud veteran, Tomas served as a mechanic during the Korean War, later continuing his mechanical work in civilian life. He worked for many years maintaining construction equipment, serving as a superintendent with Allied Steel Erectors and later with Ballard Construction.
Tomas married the love of his life Apolinar (Solis) DeLuna and shared 65 beautiful years of marriage. A man of many talents, he enjoyed spending time in his shop, working on projects, and helping others with mechanical repairs. He had a green thumb and took great pride in his garden-especially his beloved chile pequin pepper plant, which was a favorite among all who tried it.
Tomas was known for his kindness and generosity; he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a deep love for old western TV shows, happily watching them time and time again. More than anything, Tomas loved and cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy.
Tomas was preceded in death by his parents; Santiago and Sofia DeLuna, brother; Eliseo DeLuna and sister; Ester DeLuna.
He is survived by his children: Armando DeLuna, Thomas DeLuna Jr. (Susan), Maria DeLuna, and Roy DeLuna; siblings: Antonio DeLuna and Adelaida Guzman; grandchildren: Gabriel DeLuna, Alexandria DeLuna, Erik Guajardo, Thomas DeLuna III, Kristy DeLuna - Hill, and Adrian DeLuna; and great-grandchildren: Malia Stokes, Lakyn Hill, Liam Guajardo, Eliana Guajardo, Adleigh DeLuna, and Austin DeLuna, and a host of extended family and friends.
Through his unwavering love, strong work ethic, and generosity, Tomas made a lasting impact. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
