Vickie Slack

Vickie Lynn Slack, 73, of Rice Lake, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025. She was born July 6, 1952, in Rice Lake, WI to Walter and Carolyn (Margotto) Blonk. She attended Hutchinson Technology in Hutchinson, MN and graduated as the Valedictorian. She also received many awards and honors. Vickie went on to attend college and began working towards becoming an RN until her plans changed.
Vickie worked at Nickels Home Shield, where she met her soon to be husband. She then went on to work at MasterCraft for at least 30 years. She was married on May 8, 1976, to Gregory Slack and they shared 49 years together.
She sold Avon for many years and was so successful she won many awards and almost won the Avon van. Vickie was willing to go above and beyond to help anyone get their Avon. She especially loved hosting events and parties, whether it was tea lights, tuberware, Avon, or home interior.
Her heart overflowed with love for those around her, including animals. She cherished opportunities to help anyone in need and was willing to give the shirt off her back. Vickie made a point to donate to organizations that helped animals find their forever homes.
In her free time, she enjoyed traveling to Duluth to visit the Split Rock Lighthouse and Bayfield, and sharing her soprano singing at weddings and funerals. Vickie also enjoyed to dance, play piano, guitar, cook, work in her garden and take her huskies on walks. Her home was not complete without at least six huskies.
She is survived by her loving husband, Greg Slack; daughter, Janelle (Alex) Mendez; grandchildren: Priscilla, Angel, and Selena; sister, Kathy (Lonnie) Strauss; numerous cousins and other family and friends. Vickie was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Carolyn Blonk; and infant brother, Vernon Blonk.
Funeral services will be held at 12 PM Monday, Nov 24, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Deacon Steve Linton officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alex Mendez, Angel Mendez, Selena Mendez, David Blonk, and Denny Blonk. Honorary Pallbearer is Priscilla Mendez. Visitation will be two hours prior.
