Glen was born to Ann and Edward Feilen in Chicago, Illinois on January 15, 1946. He went home to Heaven on November 7, 2025 at the age of 79. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Valerie Becker and his beloved wife of 45 years, Jeanne Feilen, his grandson, Jackson Glen Patterson, and many other friends and loved ones.
Glen leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law Linda and Claude Matula, his children, Ryan and Keesha Feilen, Shay Feilen, Cale and Jenifer Feilen, his eight grandchildren: Cade, Makena, Zofia Feilen; Emmaus and Gabe Patterson; Josiah, Judah, and Ezekiel Feilen, his niece Claudine Hover and her husband, Mike Hover, and their children, Dylan, Brandon, and Delaney, his nephew, Mark Matula and his wife, Amy Rath, and their children Emily, Imani, and Odette, along with many other relatives from the Becker and Keltz family and so many lifelong friends.
Glen grew up as the middle child and only boy in his family. From a young age, he always enjoyed athletics and excelled in football at Weber High School where he helped his team win the city championship in 1964. This success earned him a scholarship to play college football at Montana State University. He later transferred to Northern Illinois University, where he graduated with a degree in business. Later, Glen proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
Glen was an award winning salesman and successful business owner in telecommunications and fiber optic cable. Glen always remained an athlete and stayed active throughout his lifetime. He loved to watch sports and wouldn't miss a Bears game despite their frustrating records.
Glen was deeply in love with his high school sweetheart, Jeanne, and they enjoyed many adventures together including raising three children who will carry on his legacy. Over the last decade without Jeanne, Glen found a new rhythm to life that centered around travel and visiting family. He jokingly called himself "Gypsy Glen" as he embraced his nomadic lifestyle.
Glen was far more than his achievements. He was steady, loyal, reliable, and disciplined. He showed up for everyone he loved, and he never missed an event. Glen was loved by all who knew him. People always enjoyed talking with him because he had so many diverse interests, hobbies, and travel tips.
Glen was an avid hunter and fisherman who held the prestigious title of reigning Bass Champ of North Lake with his lifelong friend and brother in law Claude. He was a hiker, biker, RVer, National Park enthusiast, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune fan who loved learning, reading, playing Catan, and drinking a glass of red wine. Glen was very active and healthy. He planned to outlive us all.
You knew you were loved by Glen if he texted you news articles and weather reports. Glen read the newspaper every day and he was a wealth of knowledge on most topics. Glen was steadfast and disciplined in all that he did. He never needed the spotlight or any attention. He just quietly went about his life living and loving people well. His life was filled with happiness and laughter.
Glen had a great sense of humor, and he loved to tell stories especially about his grandkids and all their accomplishments. He spent his last year doing everything he loved with the people who meant the most to him. Glen would tell you that he was incredibly grateful for the life he lived!
