Vickie Lynn Stoffregen, of Wichita, Kansas, (Recently moving from Elgin, IL) passed away surrounded by her brothers and sister in-law, on December 9th, 2024, after a brief series of cardiac issues.
Vickie was born on February 9th, 1962, in Elgin, Illinois, to Joyce A. (Baker) Stoffregen, and Edward C. Stoffregen.
Vickie was the eldest child of Joyce and Ed and spent her life in Elgin on Ryerson Avenue with her parents and grandparents, until recently, after buying a home with her brother, David, in Wichita. It was her dream.
Vickie was born with Spina bifida, which required several surgeries and rehabilitation to walk.
She did so remarkably, and attended Lowrie Elementary, Abbott Junior, and Larkin High School. She learned how to play the organ and sing. She attended Elgin Community College briefly, while she worked for her grandfather at his business and then for her Aunt Pearl in Texas.
She continued work at Michael's, and eventually at Wal-Mart for over 30 years, retiring in 2023.
She traveled all over Europe and the United States and loved her bus trips with Mother and Father and their local bank travel group.
At Zion Lutheran Church of Elgin, Vickie was baptized and confirmed and attended the rest of her life there.
Vickie loved all things Barry Manilow, 70's pop music, purple, Lady Di, Terriers, General Hospital, Ryne Sandberg, Eli Manning, Johnathan Toews, but most of all her nieces and nephews!
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Joyce. She is survived by her brothers, David Stoffregen, Wichita, Kansas, and Steven Stoffregen (wife Johnna), Andover, KS; aunts, Jean Wittlief (Richard) of Union, IL, and Bonnie Floor (Dana) of Cary Grove, IL; seven cousins, three nephews, and two nieces, one grandnephew.
Vickie was beloved by all who knew her.
