Vicky Jo Massengale, 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Vicky was born on September 23, 1947, in
Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Grant J. and Selena Mortensen. She was the oldest of seven children. She graduated from Ogden High School and had a long and fulfilling career working for the Internal Revenue Service, where she made many friends and received several awards of achievement before her retirement.
Vicky married her loving husband, Dennis G. Massengale (deceased), on Saturday, May 27, 1967, in Reno, Nevada. Together, they shared 42 years of marriage and raised three children in Farr West, Utah.
Throughout her life, Vicky enjoyed many creative pursuits that showcased her natural talents, including sewing, machine embroidery, and quilting, in which she won several blue ribbons at the Weber County Fair. She showed her love to those around her by celebrating their achievements and special occasions with handmade keepsakes. In her younger years, she also enjoyed bowling in a league with Dennis, camping, RVing, and four-wheeling. She was rarely seen without a Diet Coke in hand.
Vicky is survived by her children, Tina (Clifford) Porter of Clearfield, Utah; James (Tonya) Massengale; and Denise (Curt) Heckert, both of Plain City, Utah; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Allen (Susan) Mortensen; Lynn (Rena, deceased) Mortensen; Peggy (Kent) Clawson; Joyce (Ron) Nelson; John (Claudette) Mortensen; and Barbara (Dwayne) Moore.
Vicky was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Tom; her husband, Dennis; and her grandson, Nicholas.
A viewing will be held in her honor at Myers Mortuary on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will take place at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
