Vicky Vaughn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barnes-Friederich & Pope Funeral Home - Midwest City on Jun. 6, 2024.
On Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, Vicky Vaughn passed away at the age of 61 after a 3 year battle of lung cancer.
Vicky Sue Trude was born September 4, 1962 in Mobile, AL to Sam and Vera (Dunnaway) Trude. She was the youngest of the five Trude children. The family moved to Midwest City, OK in 1964. On November 20, 1982 Vicky married Allen Vaughn, who was the love of her life. The couple had 2 children, Cassie Sue (1984) and Allen Ray Vaughn II (1988). The family moved from Midwest City to their home outside of Harrah, OK in March of 1995.
Vicky loved her family and was a very attentive mother helping in their classrooms and with school activities. Vicky worked for Harrah Public Schools in the school nutrition department for 20 years. She loved to cook and prided herself on the fact that she taught her children how to cook as well. Vicky loved nature and being outdoors. She collected seashells and rocks from the places she traveled. She adventured to many places with her family and friends over the years including Mexico and Panama. She enjoyed camping, fishing, kayaking, and sitting poolside around Oklahoma. She was very active and encouraged others to go on adventures too. In her down time she loved playing video games and watching television. She loved to paint and craft. In her later years she started to paint rocks and would always give them to people that she met.
Vicky was described by those who loved her as kind, compassionate, and always wearing her gorgeous smile. She was not only a beautiful person but she had a generous and beautiful soul. Allen, her 2 children and her 5 grandchildren were the center of her world. She was a loyal and genuine friend to many people. Vicky was loved by many in return.
Vicky is preceded in death by her parents and two of her brothers, Sammy and Tommy Trude. She is survived by her husband, her daughter Cassie (Daniel) McCollum, her son Allen (Hannah) Vaughn, grandchildren (Daniel Boecker, Nataile Boecker, Ashlynn McCollum, Mason McCollum, and Harper McCollum), brother Kenny (Diane) Trude, sister Pam (Robert) Cunningham, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8th at the First Christian Church of Midwest City at 10am with burial at Arlington Memory Garden Cemetery following the service. Flowers or donations may be sent to Barnes Friederich Funeral Home in Midwest City.
