Victor Anaya, 77 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, with his loving family at his side.
Victor was born on March 11, 1947 in Santa Rosa to Pelagio Anaya and Stella (Ortega) Anaya. Victor was raised in Santa Rosa—where he also attended school.
Victor married the former Anna Garcia on February 23, 1974 at Nuestra Señora Del Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna, NM. A Vietnam Veteran, who honorably served his country, Victor worked in maintenance at various motels in Santa Rosa, and retired as custodian from Santa Rosa High School and retired from the New Mexico National Guard.
A life-long Catholic, Victor was a parishioner at Saint Rosa of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa and was also active in the local VFW and American Legion.
In his spare time, Victor enjoyed spending time with his fellow Veterans at David Flores Veteran’s Center—where his Army uniform is proudly displayed. He also enjoyed walking and running, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his pet turtles. However, Victor’s greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family and meeting friends for coffee at Sun and Sand Restaurant.
Victor is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Delfy Anaya, Belle Martinez and Maida Gomez.
Victor is survived by his wife: Anna, of the family home, his son: Victor (Natisha) Anaya and daughter: Jenny Anaya (Cella Garcia), both of Albuquerque, NM, and his sister: Gloria Spears (Alvin) of Albuquerque. Victor is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.
