Victor O Banks, Jr., better known as Pat, passed away peacefully at his home on July 17, 2025 at the age of 102 in Salisbury, Maryland. Pat was born on July 15, 1923 in Allen, Maryland to the late Victor O. Banks, Sr. and Mary (Reese) Banks.
Pat proudly served his country as a member of the Army 792nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion during World War II. His three years of service were a testament to his bravery and commitment to the nation. Following his military service, Pat embarked on a long and fulfilling career with Powell Motor Co., where he dedicated 30 years of service. He later continued working at Salisbury Nursing Home as a maintenance technician until his retirement. His work ethic and reliability made him a respectful figure.
Beyond his professional life, Pat was a man of many interests, with a particular passion for woodworking and furniture finishing. His hands were rarely still, as he found joy and purpose in restoring beauty to pieces that others had overlooked. His thoughtful and handy nature was evident in every project he undertook, leaving a legacy of craftsmanship that will be cherished for generations.
In 1942, Pat married the love of his life, the late Betty (Downs) Banks. They were married for 74 years. Pat is survived by his loving daughter, Patsy (Pat) Timmons, 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Jack Banks, several nieces, nephews, and special loving friends, Judy and Lou Rimbach.
Pat was preceded in death by a caring daughter, Brenda Shrieves; a loving son, Victor (Buddy) Banks III; siblings, Pete, Mike, Mutt, and Jeff Banks, Doris Disharoon, and Helen McCardell.
Pat's loving heart and thoughtful ways will be deeply missed by his family. He was a beacon of kindness and a pillar of strength within his family, and his guidance and love will continue to inspire them.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Pat will remember him as a man who embodied the virtues of patience, generosity, and dedication. His life was a reflection of the values he held dear, and his memory will be honored by all who were fortunate enough to have felt his influence.
Pat is finally reunited with his bride, the apple of his eye. The love between the two of them is like no other. Their story continues in the heavens.
As we bid farewell to Pat Banks, we celebrate a life well-lived full of meaningful relationships and lasting contributions. His legacy of love, memories, and values will remain with us forever. It will remind us of the impact one life can have when lived with intention and grace.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Friday July 25, 2025 at Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd. Salisbury, MD 21804. There will a visitation one hour prior.
