Victor Manuel Chavez, Sr. born on December 18, 1952 in Victoria Tamalipas, Mexico passed away peacefully at his home on March 26, 2025, in Moore, Oklahoma after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Victor fought with determination and grace, inspiring everyone who knew him.
In 1977, Victor began his career at General Motors, where he worked in various departments for almost three decades until his retirement in 2009.
During this time, he built a small family of his own fathering three children two daughters (Alisha & Kathy) and a son (Victor Jr). Years later in 1991, unbeknownst to him, his future mother-in-law, Stella Stout introduced him to her daughter his future wife Mary Hellen Stout. After several months of courting and using his Chavez charm to win her affection Victor proposed to Mary asking her to be his partner and friend for life, and on July 12, 1994, they married in Las Vegas, Nevada.
During his time here on earth Victor enjoyed the outdoors- camping, "hunting", fishing, and gardening and traveling. He was committed to personal growth and to expand his knowledge and skills taking college courses in electrical work and computer programming. In addition, he took or workshop classes learning how to paint, home improvement task, and woodworking classes. Where later, he found his love and passion for woodworking making flowerpots, dog beds, and later furniture. Victor also loved watching sports, and was a hardcore OSU cowboy fan! Those who knew Victor, seen his softer and caring side especially when it came to his four legged children; Titus Maximus (deceased), Kaliha Sophia (deceased), Oscar Mateo, Luna May, and Nika Nicole.
Victor is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Mary Helen (Stout) Chavez, his three children Alisha Leach and Kathy Chavez (and wife Marcie), and son Victor M. Chavez, Jr. He also leaves behind grandchildren Jake Leach (and wife Lillie), Ben Leach (and wife Kaylee), and Kasey Hampton (and husband Kody); as well as great-grandchildren Nora Leach, Walt Leach, and Levi Leach.
Victor is also remembered by his siblings: Frank Chavez (and wife Carmen), Max Chavez, Jimmy Chavez, Rudy Chavez, and Maria Chavez. He shared close bonds with his in-laws: Terry Stout; Houston Steve Stout (and wife Tina); Tracy Bickford (and husband Bruce); Rose Vandagriff (and husband Kirk); Shelly Stout; and Jackie Estrada (and husband Jose).
