Victor Clyde Johnson, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. He was born on October 30, 1940, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Everett Clyde and Ruth Janet (Mowery) Johnson. A lifelong resident of Canton, Victor, was deeply proud of his community and dedicated his life to serving it.
Victor was a graduate of Timken Vocational High School. He was a devoted and faithful member of Eden Church of the Brethren. Following his graduation from the police academy, he joined the Canton Police Department, where he honorably served for 30 years as a police officer (1964-1994). In recognition of his commitment and service, he was awarded Police Bluecoat of the Year in 1980. Those who knew Victor recognized him as one of Canton’s finest—an officer who consistently went above and beyond to help others.
Outside of his service, Victor enjoyed fishing and cherished time spent with his nephews on Mogadore Reservoir and Sippo Lake. These moments brought him great joy and lasting memories.
In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne (Franz) Johnson; his sisters, Anna Cook and Patricia Shriver; and his brother, Carl Johnson.
He is survived by his beloved and dedicated daughter, Deborah Kae Johnson; his nieces and nephews, Janet Payne, Bill (Martha) Cook, Alex (Kasey) Cook and Andy Cook, Trudi and Don Whaley, Chuck Shriver, and Carl Johnson Jr.; and his beloved cat, George.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Eden Church of the Brethren, 4437 Richville Drive SW, Canton, Ohio 44706.
