Victor Manuel Maldonado, affectionately known as Popeye and Gordo by his family and friends, 49, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
Popeye was born in Ponce Puerto Rico to his loving mother Felicita Sierra and father Victor Manuel Maldonado Garcia. Popeye lived in New York for a short period, moved to Miami, was raised in Tampa FL and lived the rest of his life in New Port Richey FL. Popeye was the type of person you could never forget. His honesty is the reason for some of his most memorable moments, Popeye said the funniest things without a care in the world and he was profoundly loved for that.
Popeye enjoyed life to the fullest, he enjoyed a good party and spending time with his family and friends. He loved listening to rap, hip-hop and reggaeton music. In his alone time, he enjoyed playing Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption on his PlayStation. He was a sneaker lover that would often be seen wearing black and red in support of Michael Jordan, which created his favorite shoes, and you could always smell him wearing the best colognes.
Popeye was more than the sum of his favorite things. Popeye was an amazing son, brother, uncle and friend. Popeye spent a significant amount of time with his mother watching their favorite shows and joking about life. His loss leaves a void that will be difficult to fill.
