Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 26 at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. at The Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, 1200 Brentnell Avenue Columbus, OH 43219.
Bishop Dr. Victor Lee McKoy, 67, transitioned to Glory on October 11, 2024, in Pickerington, Ohio.
Born on September 22, 1957 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Victor was the oldest child born to Mildred (née McDougald, previously McKoy) Goldston and Carl Lee McKoy. A man of calm and quiet demeanor, Victor was cherished by all who knew him.
As a young boy he had a passion for knowledge. This propelled him through Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan and later to higher education at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan earning a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science. He then pursued his passion for dentistry, attending The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1981.
Officially becoming Dr. McKoy in June 1985, Victor actively practiced as a dentist in several dental offices in Columbus, Ohio and in Springfield, Ohio before he started his own dental practice. He opened up McKoy Dental Center in 1987. Located on the corner of Livingston and Oakwood in Columbus, Ohio, thousands would come through the office for a dental visit or just a good word from "Doc" as he was lovingly called. Victor was known for his compassionate care and dedication to his patients. Many patients rejoiced in his anointed hands that allowed them to feel no pain while sitting in his dental chair. Victor was beloved by his patients due to his overflowing generosity with his time and services which he used to glorify the Lord.
His professional accolades include being a member of the Columbus Association of Dentists including serving as Treasurer and President at various points. Victor was also featured in Who's Who in Black Columbus in 2009.
Victor also maintained a keen interest in health and wellness, staying informed and knowledgeable on all aspects of health. He was instrumental in starting the African American Male Wellness Walk, an event that highlights the importance of health in the black community. He continued to share his health expertise as a weekly radio host on "Let's Talk About Health" every Saturday morning on AM1580 The Praise WVKO.
Victor was blessed with the gift of ministry. Being a 4th generation preacher, he was very comfortable in the area of giving God's word and encouraging others. While not gifted with the same musical talents as others in the McKoy and McDougald families, he still used the power of his voice to bless others. He ministered to the whole body, both the spiritual and the physical. Giving a word of prayer, and standing in faith, he also encouraged people to follow their dreams. His spiritual life was deeply rooted in his community. Victor was a long-time member of The Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith and later founded the Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in 1994, where he was actively involved in mentoring and outreach.
His hobbies included mentoring future dentists, reading the Bible, and his love for talking about and driving fast cars. He also loved old school gospel music. Victor's life was a testament to his love for bringing people closer to Christ and promoting health.
Victor was preceded in death by his father, Carl Lee McKoy, brother Kenneth McKoy, and sister Tandra McKoy.
Victor is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Connie (née Moss) McKoy; children, Victoria (Phillip) Griffin, Vanessa (Dr. Collin) Richardson, and Vaughn (Eryn) McKoy. He was a proud grandfather ("G-Daddy") to Simone Griffin, Camille Griffin, Connor McKoy, Ellington Richardson, and Coretta Richardson. He was a caring son to Mildred (née McDougald, previously McKoy) Goldston and stepfather Charlie Goldston. His legacy also lives on through his siblings, Cynthia (Raymond) McKoy-Collier, Gregory McKoy, Darryll McKoy, Equilla (Willie) McKoy Lipsey, Cedric (Zandra) McKoy, and Carlton (Bernice) McKoy, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lifelong friends are Linda Martin, Bishop Gregory Irvin, Dr. Glenn T. Walter, Dr. Mark White, Malcolm Tanksley, and Pastor Juan Woods.
Victor's life was marked by his commitment to his family, his patients, and his faith, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and community but his legacy will live on in all that knew him. He lived to live again.

Dr. McKoy, thank you for being a great man and example to everyone who entered into your Dental Office. I remember coming in as a kid and pushing the curtains back and seeing that you were a pastor and dentist! You ran your race, and finished your course. You are at rest now. My prayers and condolences to the entire McKoy family. An angel got their wings.

With much love and respect,
-The Nelms Family.

I first met Dr. McCoy when he gave a sermon one Friday night at Rehoboth temple. It was delightful understanding how fearfully made our bodies are with scripture and science.

He will be missed. He was the only dentist I trusted. I was just in his office a few months ago.

I hope to remember the care of pain free dentistry with Dr McCoy. He and I had lots of memories of North Carolina even though we were not there at the same time. Connie I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I thank Dr. Mark White for encouraging me to have Dr. McCoy to be my dentist. God bless you and keep you all in His care.

I meet Dr McKoy while he drove his superman blue French car. Dr Mckoy
enjoyed driving, praising the word of God, and deep love for his family.

Dr Mckoy extremely intelligent and a compasionate clinician. He brought
those skills to a community he loved. His compassion extended to the
homeless and those with the greatest need.
Victor recognized the lack of good nutritional resources. He began teaching
preaching, and broadcasting nutritional awareness to his community and
Columbus.

I thank God for sharing Dr Mckoy with us. He will be greatly missed ,although
he has wakened our desire to be better, more compassionate, and respectful
to each other.

I just saw a car moving quickly toward Heavens Expressway .

Yes, Dr Mckoy, arm out the window. The destination, the kingdom of God.

Thanks Dr. Mckoy

Remembering him when he started going to Brentnell, him and family. We all had small kid then. And He was in college then. Ad well. And I visited his church several times. Very good sermons. He always asked me how my mom and sister was doing. They went to his business then on Livingston. Every now and then I like to touch base with his wife, Connie. Both friendly Saints.

I would like to take a moment to remember and send a big THANK YOU to Dr. Victor McKoy, DDS and his legacy.

My first memory of Dr. McKoy was when he first let me come shadow him at his dental office when I was still in high school back in 2014. My very own grandmother Ernestine, who passed this past summer, was the one who connected us, so he was like family. Dr. McKoy was a God-fearing man who knew allll things dentistry. I told him how I wanted to become a dentist myself and right away he believed in me whole-heartedly that I could do it. He gave me very good advice along with tips & tricks over the years for how to get in school, make it through school, and most importantly how to be a great dentist once out of school. Fast forward 10yrs, I too, graduate The Ohio State University College of Dentistry with my dental degree. And the first place I work at is his very own office, McKoy Dental Center right here in Columbus. I couldn't thank him enough for the opportunity.

Of all the things I learned from him, the most important lesson is giving back to the community. 'Doc' would often give heavily discounted work to his patients and sometimes even do free dental work because that's just how much he loved his patients and loved God. You could tell that he cared about everyone who walked through the door. That right there is not seen enough in dentistry. Yes dentistry can make you a profit, p-r-o-f-i-t, but he was all about making a prophet, p-r-o-p-h-e-t. And that is something about him that I will NEVER forget. He left such a big impact on me that I incorporate the notion to help others out with their dental concerns, esp. financially however I can. Because that, my friends, that helps the world go 'round. From Buckeye to another, thank you once again for everything, Dr. McKoy. You will be missed. -Dr. Thomas
