With heavy hearts, we share that Anthony R. Long passed away on Friday, September 26th, 2025, at the age of 75 years old. Born on September 5th, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to his late parents, Richard and Harriet Gaetano Long. Tony lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cared for those around him. He will always be remembered for his love for his family and going on family vacations. Along with his passion for building and showing classic cars. Tony is also known for his sense of humor and innate ability to get along with anyone he met and make them laugh. He was loved by his Wonder Bread family, which brought him from Pittsburgh to Cleveland then settled down in Columbus before retiring in 2009 after 28 years. In 2011, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer and went on to fight for 14 years. Throughout those 14 years, he never wavered in his humor, love and positive attitude for life itself.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Long and sister Jeannie Godino. He leaves behind a loving family, including his beloved wife Cindy, his children Tony (Marie) Long and Nicole Alexander (Josh). His four grandchildren, Desirae (Mathew) Thomas, Mikayla (Nick) Smith, Analise Long and Gabby Alexander. And his three, soon to be four great-grandchildren, Grayson and Theo Smith, Andrew and baby girl Thomas. And his brother Robert (Pattie) Long, who will forever cherish the many memories they shared together. To all who knew Tony, he was a source of comfort, strength, and joy, and his presence will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be held on Saturday October 11th, 2025 from 12:00 to 1:30pm with service following at 1:30pm at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home at the Clintonville location, where family and friends will gather to honor a life so beautifully lived.
