Gloria Ginsburg Zwelling passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 6, 2025, at the age of 87, following several months of declining health due to recurring strokes.
Born in 1937, Gloria lived a full, vibrant life defined by curiosity, humor, and an unshakable zest for living. She loved to travel and adventure-visiting her granddaughter in Colorado and setting sail on cruises with her dear friends. She could often be found at the pool or the beach, basking in the sun with her trademark tan and radiant smile.
Gloria loved baking at all hours of the night, hosting family meals, and gathering for Shabbat dinners filled with laughter and warmth. She adored playing cards, chatting on the phone, sharing stories, and creating connection wherever she went.
She is survived by her children Susan Urell, Steve and Denise Urell, and Adria and Jerome Urell; her stepchildren Robbie and Rachel Zwelling, Karen and Jeff Willis, and Laurie and Glenn Napier; her grandchildren Carlie Urell, Saul and Lindsey Owide, Sam and Prerna Uretsky-Menon, and Niki and Joel Heller; and her great-grandchildren Poppy and Jack Owide.
She is also survived by her step-grandchildren Zachary and Rachel Zwelling, Brandi and Matt Green, and Tanner and Moe Zwelling; and her step great-grandchildren Carson Green, Lucille Zwelling, Nash Green, Warren Zwelling, Harlan Zwelling, and Teddy Zwelling.
Gloria was the eldest of three sisters and shared a lifelong, loving bond with them. She is survived by her sisters Barbara and her late husband Dr. Leon Aronson and Betty and Larry Harris, with whom she remained deeply close throughout her life. Their connection was one of laughter, strength, and devotion-a testament to the importance of sisterhood and family. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who cherished her humor, warmth, and generosity.
Her pride and joy was her family and her late husband Marvin Zwelling, who passed away in 1994. Gloria cared deeply for everyone she met-remembering the smallest details of people's lives and always bringing light and humor to every conversation.
She will be remembered as funny, witty, headstrong, and endlessly loving-a bright, shining star whose presence will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
May her memory be a blessing.
Funeral service, interment and Shiva will be held in Savannah, GA.
A memorial service will be held in Columbus in the near future. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
