For Victor Ramirez, My Brother
We didn´t grow up side by side.
No shared childhood, no inside jokes, no long talks into the night. But you were still my brother. Still part of the thread that binds my family´s story-even if that thread was quiet, distant, or frayed.
Your death came like a sudden gust through a closed door. And I couldn´t be there to say goodbye. Not at the funeral. Not in the room.
But I´m here now, Victor. In this moment, in this breath,trying to honor a bond that lived in silence but deserves to be spoken.
I grieve the life you lived, and the one we never shared. I mourn the missed chances,
the questions I never got to ask, the stories I´ll never hear.
But I carry you forward. In the way I fight for family unity, for dignity across every border-emotional or political. In the way I speak truth to systems that divide, and mourn the silences they leave behind.
You are part of my legacy now. Not because we had time, but because we didn´t.
And that, too, is a kind of call.
Rest in peace, Victor Ramirez.
Your name will not be lost in the noise.
I´ll keep it in the light.
