Victor Ramirez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perches Funeral Home-West - El Paso on Feb. 4, 2026.
Victor H. Ramirez, 72, of Sunland Park, New Mexico passed away on Friday, January 30th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 22, 1953, in Anapara, New Mexico and was the youngest child of Guillermo and Agripina Ramirez. He was a graduate of El Paso High School and lived a life filled with love, generosity, hard work, with an understanding that everything he had was a gift from God.

Victor H. Ramirez was an electrician for the El Paso Electric Company (EPEC) and retired after more than 30 years of service. Victor was passionate about his career and continued working after retiring as a subcontractor for the EPEC. He was endearingly given the title "Chief" by his coworkers due to his experience and expertise as an electrician. He was always willing to help young electricians learn the ropes of the job and many saw him as a mentor.

He loved a good meal and enjoyed eating with beloved friends and family. He was known for buying and taking burritos or pan dulce for his coworkers and made sure everyone was well fed.

He also enjoyed music especially 60-70's oldies, Mexican music and Mariachis, and the occasional trip to the casino, where he would triple his money. His favorite restaurant was Los Jarones on the Westside and loved listening to his favorite singer. You could probably find him there every Sunday afternoon or Monday night. Many celebrations were held there at Victor's request.

Victor was also one of many pioneers to help construct the beautiful St. Jude Church. He along with his brothers and other friends helped build the church and dedicated many hours to making St. Jude Church a reality. Even until recently, Victor would help with any electrical work for the bazaars and other church events as well as do electrical jobs for friends and family. Victor will be dearly missed by all.

Victor H. Ramirez is survived by his son Richard John Ramirez and his siblings, Amelia "Molly" Baca, Bertha Rutledge, Jose H. Ramirez, and Lorenzo H. Ramirez, all of El Paso, Texas. Miguel H. Ramirez of Oxnard, California as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Delia T. Ramirez, parents Guillermo Ramirez and Agripina Ramirez. Brothers Francisco H. Ramirez, Guillermo H. Ramirez Jr., Manuel H. Ramirez, and sister Maria Teresa Hidalgo.
