Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herman-Taylor Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Mar. 4, 2026.
Victor F. Saeger, age 96, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Wisconsin Rapids Health Center. He was born on July 17, 1929, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the second of five children born to Fred and Gladys (Snyder) Saeger.

He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and graduated from Immanuel Lutheran Grade School. In 1947, he graduated from Lincoln High School. Following graduation, Victor began working at Consolidated Papers, Biron Division, where he worked as a machine tender overseeing #26 machine. He retired in 1993 after 47 years of dedicated service.

In 1950, when the Korean War began, Victor enlisted in the United States Navy and served until 1954. He served aboard the USS Maddox and the USS Stickell as a fire control technician and was stationed on the Pacific West Coast and in the China Sea.

Victor married Naomi Landon on August 27, 1955, in Wisconsin Rapids. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2001.

Victor and Naomi were blessed with four children: Patti O'Connor (the late Dr. Patrick O'Connor); Wendy (Michael) Greengrass; Victor (Jennie) Saeger; and Doug Saeger. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Chad Lowell; Katie (Michael) Polich; Zachary (Kristina) Lowell; Kelli (Jason) Schiltz; Jacob (Fern) Sandstrom; Ryan O'Connor; and Dr. Victoria (Dr. Peter) Gonzalez; 17 great-grandchildren; his brother, James Saeger; his sister, Jeannette Mandelin; sister-in-law, Pauline (Terry) Szelagowski and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Naomi; his son-in-law, Dr. Patrick O'Connor; his sister, Phyllis Meyers; and his brother, Norman Saeger and many good friends.

Victor had dogs for most of his life. He and his dogs won countless ribbons in agility competitions. He worked with the Wis. Rapids Kennel Club for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially trout fishing in streams throughout the state. When his boys played Little League baseball, he coached their teams. He also coached basketball at Immanuel Lutheran Church School for several years. Victor was proud to serve for many years on the VFW Post 2534 Honor Guard. Victor ushered at Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a charter member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Later in life, Victor moved to Renaissance Assisted Living, where he formed many new friendships, including Vic Slattery, the maintenance person who was especially helpful to him.

Victor often said that what carried him through life's difficult times was his religion and faith in God.

Patti and family, I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I remember visiting with him when delivering the mail to the house. Such a friendly man. Now he is with your mom after all these years.
