Vilma Rogo Obituary

Vilma Virginia Belardi Rogo
Faith, Family, and Fairfield U… Vilma Virginia Belardi Rogo, born on May 21, 1930, died on October 29, 2023, only 8 months after her beloved Albert, with whom she moved to Bridgeport as a young bride from Old Forge, Pennsylvania in 1950. Together, Vilma and Albert taught their three children by example to live with dignity, integrity, and purpose. Retired in 1997 as Supervisor of Payroll for Fairfield University, where she was several times honored as "Employee of the Year", Vilma was a mentor and inspiration to those who worked with her. During her retirement, she contributed time, energy, and expertise as a valued volunteer at St. Vincent's Hospital gift shop, St. Jude of Monroe Parish, and the Monroe Senior Center. A master in the kitchen, Vilma loved to share her lemon meringue and coconut cream pies, eggplant parmigiana, homemade ravioli, and other favorite recipes with her family and those she loved. Avid travelers, Vilma and Albert toured the United States, Canada, and Western Europe, with the American West and Italy being special repeat favorites. Vilma lived by the motto: "The more love you give, the more love you have to give".
She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Albert D. Rogo, who from the moment they met, was her one and only.
Vilma's great love was her family including her three children whom she called her "pride and joy" and "her greatest accomplishments": Barbara Rogo, Gary (and Carol) Rogo, and Nancy Rogo (and Eric) Trainer; her grandchildren, Kara Rogo (and Jeff) deFressine, Marisa Rogo, Cameron Trainer, and Aidan Trainer; and great-grandchildren Leah and Maya deFressine. Vilma lived a very good life. She will be greatly missed.
There will be a Mass to honor Vilma Rogo on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10:30, at St. Margaret Shrine in Bridgeport.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider a donation in her memory to the Bridgeport Field of Dreams Foundation c/o Neil Kavey, Chair, 379 Szost Drive, Fairfield, CT 06824-4055 or donate online at https://www.bridgeportfieldofdreams.org. Condolences to the family...I know Vilma just lost her husband a few short months ago. Barbara was my teacher at Blackham and I´m sure her parents were instrumental in raising such a fine daughter. Memory Eternal.

Vilma and Al were a great couple! Vilma was very kind and loving. I enjoyed working with her at Fairfield University and being a parishioner with her and Al at Saint Jude Parish. May they both rest in peace. Ray Bourdeau
