Vilnis was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Vilnis is survived by his wife, Astrida Jakobsons of Yorkville, IL; his son, Victor Jakobsons of Aurora, IL; his grandchildren, Jeremy Jakobsons, Austin (Sara) Jakobsons; and his great-grandson, Dayton Jakobsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jack Boley; his two grandchildren, Nicca and Krista Boley; as well as his brother.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL with Pastor Gundega Puidza officiating. Interment will be private.
Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
