Vincent Agnone, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, at the age of 95 in Bayville, NJ. Born on November 21, 1928, in Paterson, NJ, Vincent's life was a testament to the values of dedication, love, and family.
Vincent's journey began as the son of Pietro and Giovanna Agnone, growing up in a religious household where his father served as a minister who was well known throughout Passaic County. This upbringing instilled in him a strong sense of faith and community that he carried throughout his life. After bravely serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954, Vincent returned home with an honorable discharge.
On June 27, 1959, Vincent married the love of his life, Helen, and together they embarked on a life filled with love and commitment. Vincent and Helen moved from Paterson to Long Valley, NJ where they lived from 1971-1986 before ultimately settling in Bayville, NJ where they have resided since.
Vincent's professional life was marked by an unwavering work ethic. For 35 years, he was a loyal and dedicated employee at General Motors, where his punctuality and reliability were the hallmarks of his career. His colleagues knew him as a man who could always be counted on, a trait that extended well beyond the workplace.
Beyond his professional achievements, Vincent was a man of many passions. He loved the sea and the tranquility of boating and fishing, a hobby that led him to build two boats with his own hands. His dedication to his family was unparalleled; he was a family man through and through, ensuring that his children were always by his side, whether go-carting, enjoying family vacations down the Jersey Shore, or simply enjoying the day together. Vincent's children were his world, and he was theirs.
Vincent's love for life's simple pleasures was evident in his enjoyment of Helen's cooking and the open road beneath him as he rode his motorcycle. His presence was a source of joy and comfort to those around him, and his unique spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the life of the party and loved to dance. Those who knew him enjoyed his fun demeanor tremendously.
Vincent is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Helen Agnone; his son Michael Agnone (Angela); his son David Agnone; his daughter Laurie Passenti (Frank); his grandchildren Johnny Agnone, Steven Agnone, and Frank Passenti. He was predeceased by his parents, his son John Agnone, his siblings Peter, Danny, Johnny, and Mary Agnone, his and his close friends, Nick Argentieri and Frank Oliver (also brothers-in-law), Ralph Caruso and Tony Pomante.
Vincent's legacy is one of love, commitment, and joy. He created countless cherished memories for his family, and his influence will continue to be felt for generations to come. As we say goodbye to Vincent Agnone, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him.
