Vincent Alonge Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highland Park Funeral Home and Crematory on Mar. 3, 2026.
Vincent Alonge lived a life defined by love, loyalty, hard work, and an unshakable calm spirit. Just three days shy of his 92nd birthday, he passed away on February 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy rooted deeply in family and devotion.

Born on February 26, 1934, Vincent built his life in Kansas City, Kansas, on Boeke Street - a place that became the backdrop for decades of memories, laughter, and love. In his younger years, he was a talented pitcher, good enough to be drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. But baseball glory wasn't the dream he chose. Instead, he chose Doris - the love of his life. He declined the opportunity to pursue professional baseball to stay close to her, a decision that defined the man he was: family first, always.

Vincent and Doris were married on October 3, 1953, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted 72 years. Together they built a home filled with warmth and raised four children: David, Jerry (Debbie), Julie, and Jennifer. Their love became the foundation for generations that followed.

Vincent was a dedicated and dependable worker throughout his life. He worked for Bob Stevens Appliance, where he became known as the "Lonely Maytag Repairman," servicing homes with the same steady patience and reliability he carried into every part of his life. Much like the familiar Maytag Repairman from television commercials, Vincent was always ready when called upon - trusted, capable, and quietly proud of a job well done.

He was the proud grandfather of Susan (Ed), Jeff, Brittany (Benjy), Adam, Devin (Areon), Dominick (Stephani), Taylor (Steve), Hannah (Marcel), and Bella. His joy multiplied again with his great-grandchildren: Samantha, Olivia, Henry, Theodore, Quincy, Titan, Kyree, Cru, and Kobe. There was nothing Vincent loved more than having his family gathered around him - unless it was dessert. There truly wasn't a sweet treat he would ever turn down.

Vincent lived by a simple motto: "I ain't worried about it." And he meant it. Through life's highs and lows, he carried a steady calmness that reassured everyone around him. Problems were met with perspective. Worries were softened by faith in tomorrow. His presence alone made things feel manageable.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Doris; his brother Eddie; his children; his grandchildren; and his great-grandchildren, who carry his legacy forward in countless ways.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George, his sister Joanne and his granddaughter Andrea Marie.

Vincent's life was not measured in statistics or achievements, though he had them. It was measured in loyalty, in laughter at the dinner table, in the quiet choice to stay, to build, and to love deeply. He chose family over fame, steadiness over spotlight, and sweetness in more ways than one.

And if he were here to say one last thing to us all, it would likely be simple:

"I ain't worried about it."

His family can rest in that peace now, too.
