Francis Alonge

Francis "Frank" Alonge, age 93 of Erie, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025.

Born on June 28, 1932 to John and Maria Vicari Alonge, Frank was raised in North East, Pennsylvania. He attended North East High School and later earned his GED at Technical Memorial High School.

Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Alaska, followed by eight years of reserve duty. He enjoyed a long and dedicated working career, spending more than 20 years with Welch's Foods and over 20 years with International Paper. After retirement, he continued to stay active, working part-time for Gohr Printing for several years.

Frank enjoyed life's simple pleasures, time with family, traveling, yard sales, washing his car, bingo, and the occasional lottery ticket. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known as an amazing father and grandfather. He was a longtime member of St. James Roman Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter; and all of his siblings, Josephine (Charles) Dilimone, Sam Alonge, Nina Alonge, Rose (Peter) Buscemi, Frances (Peter) Vella, Sarah Alonge, Joseph (Eleanor) Alonge, Caroline (Edward) Anderson, and Joan (Paul, George) Muscarella Hoggard.

Frank is survived by his wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage (married May 6, 1961); his daughters, Renee (Terry) Bishop and Kelly (Pat); grandson, Kyle Alonge; step-granddaughters, Kaela (Ian) Burrows and Bianca (John) Sisto; his sister-in-law, Judy Hayes (Rodney); and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to St. James Roman Catholic Church, 2635 Buffalo Rd. Erie, PA 16510, on Saturday, December 13th, from 1 pm until the time of the Funeral Mass at 2 pm.
