It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of LtCol Vincent D. Applewhite, USMC (Ret.), 58, of Stafford, who departed this life too soon on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
A proud Marine, Vincent honorably served his country for over 22 years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Marine Corps. His service was marked by unwavering dedication, strong leadership, and a profound sense of duty. Following his military retirement, Vincent continued to serve his country as a civilian working in government logistics, where his expertise and commitment continued to make a lasting impact.
Beyond his professional life, Vincent was deeply devoted to his community. He served as a valued member of the County Parks and Recreation Board, working to improve public spaces and community programs. He also dedicated countless hours as a Scout Leader, mentoring young people and instilling in them the values of responsibility, leadership, and service - the principles that he lived by every day.
Vincent was a loving husband, devoted son, beloved father of three, and a cherished grandfather of four. He was a steady presence and guiding light to his family, offering wisdom, support, and unconditional love. He found joy in spending time with his family, often sharing stories, laughter, and life lessons rooted in his deep values and generous spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; children, Donovan, Amber, and Danielle; and grandchildren, Christopher, Genesis, Trinity, and Evalyn. He also leaves behind his parents, Sergeant Major Bobby Applewhite (Ret.) and Juanita Applewhite; three siblings, Duan Joyner, Robin Applewhite, and Bobby Applewhite Jr.; and nephew, Robin Applewhite Jr., all of whom will miss him dearly. He will also be deeply missed by the multitude of friends and colleagues, who will always remember him for his kindness, integrity, and constant support.
Vincent will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, sense of humor, and his deep commitment to family, country, and service. His legacy will always live on in the many lives he touched and made better.
A service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment with full military honors will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
