Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Clawson on Dec. 5, 2023.
Vincent Michael Babich, age 78 of
Clawson, MI passed away November 29, 2023. He is survived by his siblings, Mark (Linda) Babich, Matthew (Debbie) Babich, Marie (Lee) Holly, and Charles (Rachel) Babich, along with many nieces and nephews.
Born September 27, 1945 to Vicent and Antonia (Tomac) Babich in
Highland Park, Michigan, Vincent and his family moved to Clawson in 1950. In 1963, he graduated as a member of the National Honors Society from Clawson High School. Throughout his life, Vincent held a strong appreciation for music, which showed when he was given the opportunity to play the clarinet solo at his high school graduation. He was fortunate to have several great high school friends that kept in touch. They would take him to lunch and made sure his hair was always styled.
He attended University of Michigan where his love for music would lead him to become a member of the marching band. During his time there, Vincent had the unique opportunity to play with the band for the Michigan Wolverines Rose Bowl victory in 1965. His life changed his junior year of college when he began to struggle with mental illness.
Throughout his life, Vincent never lost sight of his religious beliefs and would assure friends and family that he had a Guardian Angel that was with him and protected him, always. Vincent would write letters to his brothers and sisters often. He would typically end each letter with a verse from the Bible and include a shout out to his Guardian Angel asking to receive a better life.
Even with his illness, he travelled extensively. He could be found anywhere in the United States or Mexico. Besides traveling, he also enjoyed reading and was knowledgeable on many subjects. Vincent was known to lead the Christmas sing along songs at the annual family Christmas party gatherings. Although he did not always sing in tune, he always sang loud and proud!
Vince would never let a birthday go by without sending a card or letter to his siblings, nieces, or nephews. He would often say that his riches would be waiting for him in Heaven; let us hope he is wealthy now.
A Memorial Service in honor of Vincent's life will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14 and 15 Mile Roads), Saturday, January 13, 2023 at 3pm. Friends may visit beginning at 1pm.
