Vincent Daly Obituary

Vincent "Jim" Daly, age 91, of Farmington Hills, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Born May 6, 1934, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Jim was the son of Eugene and Esther (Vincenzetti) Daly. He moved to Detroit as a child, and attended school at St. Cecilia. On August 1, 1953, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Engel, and together they shared 45 years of marriage before her passing on October 25, 1998.

Jim built a respected career as a lather, Construction Superintendent, and part owner where his hard work, dedication, and meticulous and fastidious nature shone through in every project. He was a man of deep faith and longtime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, where he attended daily mass and served faithfully as an usher for many years.

Faith and family were at the heart of Jim's life. From a young age, he cared for those around him-including his brother John and even the neighbors-and continued that legacy of devotion as a loving dad, grandfather, great grandfather (great boo), and father-in-law. Independent, strong-willed, and particular in the best of ways, Jim was admired for his discipline. Remarkably, he kept up his health and daily exercise routine, completing daily walks and 75 push-ups and sit-ups each morning, until just months ago.

Jim was a good man who loved learning. He was constantly reading, researching, and expanding his knowledge. He also enjoyed boating and treasured time at his beloved cottage on Burt Lake, where countless memories were made with family and friends.

Jim will be remembered for his faith, strength, loyalty, and the love he poured into those around him.

Jim is the beloved husband to the late Mary Lou; loving father of Mike (Sue) Daly, Kevin (Janet) Daly, the late Patrick Daly and the late David Daly; cherished grandfather of Patrick Daly, Michael Daly, Shannon (Patrick) Fox, Rachel (Joel) Sankey, Megan Daly, Ryan Daly, Jeremy Love and Eric (Heidi) Daly; great grandfather of Nova, Ivy, P.J., Gracie, Conlan, Charlie, Jameson, Holland, Josephine, Nora, Corinne and a baby girl arriving any day; and fond brother of the late John Daly.

The Daly family will receive guests on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 2-8 pm, with a 7 pm Rosary.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 27, 2025, 10 am (gathering at 9:30 am) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd, Farmington.

Private interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

Memorial tributes are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Salvation Army Bed and Bread campaign.
