Vincent Ignatius Peter Vizzard, it is with heavy hearts that we announce that our dear husband, father, pop pop, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024 at the age of 91. Vince had a wonderful caring spirit that was instilled by his humble parents, James Joseph and Margaret Elizabeth (nee Flynn) both immigrants from County Mayo, Ireland. "Up Mayo!" He was pre-deceased by all of his siblings, Mary Ellen, Monsignor James J., Margaret and Thomas. He and his beloved wife, Margaret (nee Maher) raised their children in
Cinnaminson, NJ. Their children are Meg Fynan (Mike), Eileen Vizzard, Mary Ellen Egan (Tom), Vince Vizzard (Chris), Kara White (Doug), Jim Vizzard (Jeanna), John Vizzard (Laurie), Anne Vizzard and Patricia Martin (Travis, deceased). Vince was blessed with 32 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.
Vince was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High School and Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA. Vince also served in the United States Army as a young man. Vince supported his family as a successful forklift truck salesman for JM Forklift Service in Bensalem, PA and Eastern Lift Truck in
Maple Shade, NJ.
Vince was proud of his Irish heritage. He was raised in a predominantly Irish section of Philadelphia, referred to as Swampoodle. Vince remained close and loyal to his friends from the neighborhood through his entire life. Vince had a strong and wonderful voice; he enjoyed an impromptu Irish song while doing a chore around the house or running an errand in the car. Vince's hobbies included surf fishing, walking, tending to his Jersey tomatoes and listening to Peg's many colorful stories. He was also known for baking a delicious blueberry pie on special occasions. Vince had a friendly and pleasant disposition and was always referred to as a humble and kind man. The paradox of Vince Vizzard was how could such a gentle soul be such a strong and tenacious competitor? Vince loved competition whether in sports or business. In Swampoodle, he loved to play ball with the guys from "Club". Vince rowed on the first crew team at St. Joseph's University. Vince coached and supported his children and grandchildren in their athletic interests, talents and adventures. Vince also excelled in a highly competitive Forklift industry and put nine children through college with that career, while maintaining a reputation for being honest and fair. We do not know for certain but we suspect that the answer to our question lies around kitchen tables, church pews and basketball courts.
We are truly grateful for the many years we had with him. All are welcome to attend his Vizzitation on Thursday March 7th from 10 am – 11 am at the Church of the Sacred Heart 103 4th St,
Riverton, NJ, followed by mass at 11 am. His mass will be live streamed on the following link: https://www.viewlogies.net/givnish/arwG6ICwM?pin=096613
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Vince's memory to either Samaritan Hospice PO Box 71425 Philadelphia, PA 19176 (www.samaritannj.org) or Catholic Relief Services PO Box 5200 Harlan, IA 51593-0700
