Vincent Eugene LaGrone, 63, of Chicago, IL, was born February 9, 1962, in Cairo, IL, to the union of Margie and Jesse LaGrone. He departed this life on Thursday, April 24, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Vincent graduated from Egyptian High School in 1980, where he enjoyed playing baseball. After high school, Vincent attended ITT Technical School in Evansville, IN, where he studied electrical engineering and served in the US Army. Growing up, Vincent was the only boy in the home of four sisters. As you can imagine, his upbringing was very entertaining.
Vincent had a long career managing food preparation for nursing homes and had his own private catering business, where he catered for disaster areas and movie sets. Vincent was most recently employed by Thomas Cuisine, where he was an Executive Chef. He was passionate about food service preparation and took great pride in the appearance and display of any food item he created. He had a talent for making simple dishes appear "fine dining." He enjoyed fishing and being a history buff. He got the most enjoyment from having lively discussions about politics and race relations.
Vincent leaves to cherish his memory his fiancée, Mila Challoy (Chicago, IL). Mila was Vincent's rock and had saved his life on two other occasions and was attempting to save it again on the day of his death. Mila was the love of Vincent's life, and they had recently become engaged. He leaves four sisters: Vicki Marable (Tamms, IL), Marlene LaGrone (Cedar Hill (Dallas), TX), Constance (Garland) Taylor (Florissant, MO), Angela LaGrone (Carbondale, IL), and one brother, Victor Baker (Marion, IL). He also leaves niece, Erika Marable (Cape Girardeau, MO), great nephew, Marcus Marable (Carbondale, IL), great-great nieces, Cherish and Amiyah Marable, great-great nephew Marcus Marable, Jr. (Juju), and one aunt, Sharon LaGrone (Tamms, IL), along with a host of other cousins and friends.
Vincent leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable memories and will be greatly missed!
