OBITUARY OF VINCENT EARL LAMAY

Vincent Earl Lamay was born on December 2, 1963, to Elzia Lamay, Sr. and Viola Lamay in Hanford, CA. He was the fifth of six siblings, and he grew up in Hanford attending elementary and high schools. 1982 he graduated from Hanford Joint Union High School (East campus).

Growing up in a church going family, they attended Golden Harvest Apostolic Church in Hanford, CA, where he was baptized in Jesus name at an early age and would receive the Holy Ghost. After completing high school, Vincent would marry Tonya Donegan and to that union was born his only birth child, Cyretta Lamay. Vincent joined the army and went through boot camp but quickly realized that it was not his career choice.

Vincent was always handy with his hands, so he worked in landscaping, plumbing, painting, fencing, refinishing furniture, but his true trade was being a painter. He painted with prestige and pride… he was a very meticulous left-handed painter. He was also a good neighborhood barber to many of the kids.

He always had a love for children and the elderly; even when he moved away to Arkansas. While living in Hope, Arkansas he attended New Hope Apostolic Church, which was founded by his dad, the late Elder Elzia Lamay, Sr.

Settling in, Vince would get married to Jeanette Holyfield and take time with her son, Danny Glover and they would later adopt her nephew Lavon (Slick) Glover. He was affectionately known as "Dad." He worked various jobs, then transitioned into long haul truck driving, which he enjoyed for a spell. In 2021 Vincent would permanently move back to California, where he would go back to his passion of working with his hands - painting, refinishing furniture, remodeling and painting his friends' homes. He was truly a "Jack of all trades." One of his favorite pastimes was caring for his pet tortoise "Bonnie."

He is proceeded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents, his father, Elzia Lamay, Sr., his sister, Carolyn Sue Weaver, and his nephew, Brian Edward Weaver.

He is survived by: His mother, Viola Lamay, his daughter, Cyretta Lamay (Tonya Lamay-mother), his sons, Danny and Lavon Glover (Jeanette Lamay- mother); his brother, Elzia Lamay, Jr. (Sabine); his three sisters, Virginia "Kay" Sanders (Leonard), Patricia "Penny" Scott (JC), and Christina "Chris" Lett (Eric) and his brother-in-law, Thomas Weaver; his second Mom – Mary Sue Wyatt (Aunt), two uncles Charles E. Gamble, Sr. (Ellen) and Corinthian Lamay (Charlene), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. We will truly miss him and that infectious smile. "Rest easy cowboy." Love you always!
