Vincent D. Martello, "Vinny" 93, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Born on December 12, 1931, in Haverstraw, New York, Vinny lived a long and full life devoted to family, service to his country, and a warmth and smile that drew people to him.
Vinny was the devoted husband of Vittoria Tirino until her passing in 2024. Together they built a life rooted in love for family. He was the cherished son of Vincenzo and Concetta Martello and grew up in a large, close-knit family in Haverstraw, New York. He was predeceased by siblings Sam, Elizabeth, Rita, Dan, Catherine, and Marion.
Vinny attended St. Peter's Catholic School and Haverstraw High School, Vinny proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War in 1953 and later worked with Martin Marietta and the U.S. Postal Service before retiring.
Family was the center of Vinny's life and in 2000 he moved to Myrtle Beach and loved his life living close to his family.
Vinny was a loving and supporting Father to his son Vincent (Toni) Martello of Stony Point, NY; Linda (Jeff) Schassler of Myrtle Beach, SC; and John (Darlene) Martello of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was affectionately "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren Kevin, Vittoria, Katharine, Alexandra, and Gianna, and great-grandfather to Bryan, Natalia, Justin, and Bryar. He was blessed to live close to all his grandchildren which gave him countless moments of joy, and his constant presence and love will forever leave behind a lifetime of memories they will always have to treasure. Vinny was deeply connected to his family and friends alike and his cheerful personality radiated in his neighborhood and community in Myrtle Beach.
Vinny had two great passions that carried him through life. Golf was more than a pastime-it was a competition he relished well into his 90's. He loved the challenge, the camaraderie, and the chance to test himself with every round. His gardening gave him a purpose well into his 90's and he proudly shared the harvest for Sunday Italian Dinners that his wife Vicki prepared with their love for family and friends.
His pride, optimism and happiness was a reflection of the way he nurtured the people and things he loved most.

Sympathy and love to the Martello family. I came across this obituary and immediately knew who he was. No doubt you guys are a beautiful family because of having such a beautiful Pop. Hugs and prayers and love as we will all one day see him again on the other side. Looking forward to meeting him then.
