Vincent Satta Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Magner Funeral Home, Inc. - Norwalk on Mar. 30, 2026.
On March 27, 2026, the world lost a beloved, one-of-a-kind husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin in Vincent "Vinny" J. Satta. He was 85 years young.

Born in 1940 in NYC, son of the late John and Edith (DiMeglio) Satta, Vinny was raised and spent most of his life in Norwalk, CT. A graduate of Norwalk High School, he went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-64 in the 922nd Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron.

Upon his return home, he began his career as an electrical technician, most notably with Capitol Magnetics (a division of Capital Records) in Stamford, CT. There, he maintained production equipment for various magnetic tape formats, including reel-to-reel, 8-track, and cassettes. His family enjoyed the free records and tapes he would bring home from artists like Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, and Duran Duran.

He married his wife, Marie (D'Amico), also of Norwalk, in 1969. They went on to spend 56 loud, but happy, years together, raising four children of whom he was very proud.

Vinny was also proud to be a first-generation descendant of Italian immigrants from the island of Ischia in the Bay of Naples. He liked nothing better than being home surrounded by his family, good food, and lively conversation. He loved puttering in his cellar workshop and garage, which were filled to the brim with buckets of tools, nails, screws, and scrap wood. Always ready, willing, and able to help fix something, Vinny was handy at anything he put his mind to.

His other hobbies included cooking, gardening, and investing. He became so adept in the latter that he was often asked for financial advice. He was also fond of watching movies, especially John Wayne westerns, and never passed up the opportunity to re-watch My Cousin Vinny. His stock tips, homemade focaccia, pignoli cookies, and the plum tomatoes grown in his garden for sauce will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife Marie, he is survived by his daughter Gina (Joseph) of Raleigh, NC, his sons Vincent (Laura) of Millis, MA, Nicholas (Carrie) of Stratford, CT, and James of Norwalk; five cherished grandchildren: Nicholas, Christian, Lorenzo, Isabel, and Thomas; his sister Adele (Gallo) of Easton, CT, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his brother John (Maryanne) and sister Caroline (Bard).

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Matthews Church, 16 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk CT on Monday, April 6 at 10 am, followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Ave, Norwalk, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association to honor his memory.
