Joseph Satta Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory - Middletown from Sep. 11 to Sep. 12, 2021.
Joseph Robert "Joe/Joey" Satta, 59, of Middletown, DE, passed away September 7th, 2021.

Born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY on August 9th, 1962, he was the youngest son of the late Peter and Evelyn (Saukas) Satta. Joe worked in banking at HSBC for 30+ years.

In his spare time, Joe enjoyed traveling, going on adventures, and relaxing by the pool. He could always be found singing, especially to classic rock and roll. Joe was the king of corny "dad" jokes, and could always get a laugh or an eye-roll with his sense of humor. An avid football fan, he loved to watch college football, reminiscing on his days playing and coaching in Greenpoint. The holiday season was his favorite time of year. He believed in the magic of Christmas and spread joy by dressing up as Santa for several events. Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and dear friend to many.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Peter and nephew, Jeffery. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Deborah (Egidio) Satta; children, Kevin and Katie; siblings, Jeffery, Timothy, and Kathy; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 3 pm, on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a second visitation will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm. A third visitation will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the funeral home, where a funeral service will begin at 10 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joe's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I had the opportunity to work with Joe from 2017. Being new to New York, he made sure I was equipped with all information to navigate and settle down as quickly as I could. His timely advice helped me prepare for my first harsh winter in the city of New York after landing from the hotter climes of Dubai. That was Joe - he had a knack for knowing what help you needed as a colleague and was quick to offer it.

I will also remember Joe as a cheerful and a helpful colleague in the workplace even in the most stressful of times. True to his style, he brought so much fun and laughter to us as a team. He had an infectious smile that was hard to miss.

I will miss our "lively" Joe. May his kind soul rest in peace.

Worked with Joe at HSBC for over 20 years from NYC to Delaware. Joe was so easy going and full of fun my grown kids always talk about the HSBC Santa Claus that made them laugh. Debbie my sincere condolences to you and the family Joe will truly be missed. Just received on Tuesday this picture from our friend Darlene back in early 80's
