It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of our beloved father. In his lifetime, Dad was a pillar of strength offering an unwavering love for his family. As we reflect on his life, we seek solace in the legacy he leaves behind-one of integrity, compassion, and the quiet enduring power of a father's devotion to his daughters.
Dad was born on 06/25/1932 to Katherine Cebula and Anthony Tanski. He was the youngest child with 5 older siblings, Margie, Ted, Anna, Connie and Dolores. He attended St. Stanislaus Kostka School in Baltimore often spoke of his formative years with fondness-stories of mischief with siblings and learning the importance of work at an early age with a paper route.
The greatest chapters of Dad's story began when he joined the United States Navy at an early age and honorably discharged in 1953. He married the love of his life the same year, Shirley E. Ellis (deceased in 2003).
He attended the Baltimore School of Design and completed an Apprenticeship in the trade of Sheet Metal in 1957. Ambition for Dad was never about accolades or titles. It was about bettering oneself and offering a strong work ethic and a sense of responsibility that quickly won him the respect of colleagues. He had a reputation for reliability and excellence in his profession.
He believed that work should never overshadow the importance of home and family. As a father, he embodied patience, strength, and support. He celebrated our victories, soothed our sorrows, and encouraged us to follow our own paths with confidence. The lessons he taught-hard work, kindness, humility-were imparted not by lecture, but by the way he lived each day.
Dad's interests were varied and vibrant. He was an avid reader, a lover of nature /farmland and dogs, and a wood craftsman who took pleasure in building furniture and created all members of the family jewelry boxes.
The true measure of a person is not found in wealth or status, but in the love and wisdom they leave behind. Dad's legacy is woven into the fabric of our lives-a tapestry of memories, lessons, and enduring affection. He taught us to face hardship with resilience, to greet others with kindness, and to appreciate the moments we are given.
Though we grieve his absence, we celebrate the fullness of his 93 years of life. We carry his spirit in our hearts, striving each day to honor him through our own actions and choices.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Susan M Mitchell (Chip Mitchell), Cheryl A Armstrong (Robert Armstrong) and Kelly J Munley (Phillip Munley).
As we say goodbye, we do so with gratitude for every moment shared, every lesson learned, and every story told. Dad's life was a gift to his family, and his presence will be deeply missed. We are comforted by the knowledge that his love endures-in the laughter of his 9 grandchildren, Shane (deceased), Kristoffer, Nicholas, Sunnie, Lindsay, Jason, Amanda, Leah, Robby and 16 great-grandchildren and in the warmth of our most cherished memories, and in the lives of all those he touched.
Rest well, Dad. Your legacy will never fade, and your memory will forever be treasured.
