Vincenza (Morbano) Maugeri, 87, passed away on March 25, 2025, in Staten Island, New York.
Born on December 27, 1937, in Vizzini, Italy. She was a woman of courage, love, and resilience. Born in Sicily, she made the difficult journey to America with her husband and four children, leaving behind the only home she had ever known and the family she loved to build a new life. Though the distance was great she kept in touch with her family by writing letters and phone calls to her sister. She was a woman deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren, always striving to give them the best of herself. Though she faced the challenges of mental illness, she endured with quiet strength.
Vincenza found comfort in the simple routines of daily life. She had a passion for sewing. Cooking was another way she expressed her love, filling her home with warmth and the comforting aromas of homemade meals. Her daily trips to the neighborhood deli were more than errands they were moments of connection and familiarity that brought her joy.
She is survived by her four sons, Gaetano Maugeri, Giovanni Maugeri, Salvatore Maugeri, and Christopher Maugeri; her three daughters, Gianna Maugeri, Maria Maugeri, and Christine Rebeiro; and her fourteen beloved grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Orazio Maugeri.
Vincenza s legacy is one of perseverance and love. She was not defined by hardship but by the memories she created and the warmth she shared with those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, March 28, 2025, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 AM on Saturday at Holy Rosary Church located at 80 Jerome Ave Staten Island, New York 10305. Entombment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ.
