Viola May Adsit

The heavens rejoiced as Viola May Adsit passed on to her new home on September 28, 2025 after a fatal illness at Sheridan Hospital at 9:28 A.M. Her loving and devoted son Jack and daughter in law Karen were with her when she passed. Having been born a beautiful soul on September 12, 1928, she lived to the grand age of 97.
Viola had a terrible tragedy in the early 1950's with the loss of three of her children: Jeanette, Raymond, and Darrel ,all of whom passed under the age of two. That tragedy would reappear decades later when her two adult daughters Bernice and Janice would pass from this earth life in two separate incidents, Through it all she was a pillar of strength, always finding a way to put one foot in front of the other.
Viola was an extraordinary cook! She was even the head cook at Woodland Elementary school in her prime. You were certainly blessed if she made your birthday cake with white mountain frosting!
Viand Jack Sr, loved square dancing, and they even danced in Branson, Mississippi!. Jack Sr. loved to round dance with Vi. Their dedication and love to one another, was never more evident as they would charmingly and beautifully dance the floor.
Her bountiful garden kept her family fed, in the lean years. Keeping the garden weed free was up to her kids, who might have complained about pulling the destructive monsters ! But, it was well worth it, once she canned the mouth watering cuisine of delight!
Viola and her husband did a great deal of traveling during their marriage. From Incredible Alaska to lengthy drives from west to the east coast. Most of the journeys back east were in search of long ago heritage of the Adsit clan, which proved quite fruitful. There was a wonderful trip to Canada which included Janice and her two girls. She even had the great fortune to actually live in Hawaii with her first born grandson, Al -known affectionately as Punk to our family.
Viola loved her beautiful Big Horn mountains! The camping and fishing stories are way too numerous to mention, but they were always deep seated in her mind. Her daughter in law and son had the great pleasure to take her up the mountain, one last time, about a month before her passing. Her smile was incredible as she gazed at the awesome view, taking in every glimpse as if she knew it was her last.
If you knew Viola, you knew how much she loved to SEW! Her quilts are legendary,
Everyone in the family has one, she made sure of that! Proudly she was still sewing her last quilt just before her death.
She is survived by her 99 year old sister, June Spearman of Herminston, Oregon, her son Jack Adsit and his wife Karen of Gillette Wy. She had6 grandchildren, and numerous great grand children, And the great, greats are still coming!
She was proceeded in death by her husband Jack Adsit, Sr. and 5 of their children:
Jeanette, Raymond, Darrel, Bernice and Janice and her three sisters Carmen, Fern, Charlotte (in-law) and her brother Vern and grandson Darrel Lee Adsit.
